Weather on the Run

March 23 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

$10 – $15
John Huth - Weather on the Run

A special presentation by John Huth

You can improve your ability to read the weather through an understanding of the physical processes driving weather systems when coupled with observations. Although this shouldn’t supplant NOAA radio and other weather resources, it can help you fine tune forecasts for local conditions and enhance the experience on the water.

John Huth’s presentation will emphasize short space-time weather events that are important to recognize, like squalls and afternoon thunderstorms. These can be difficult to predict with any geographic specificity, but clearly are one of the biggest hazards out there. There are even signs from the night before that can be helpful. The main thing is to be able to interpret weather signs on your own.

In addition, John will examine cyclonic storms, e.g. Nor’easters. These storms may occur at any time of year but are most frequent and most violent between September and April, according to the National Weather Service.
